Talk Abstract:
Speaker's bio: Steve is visiting the Global Food and Nutrition Security Group, led by Mario Herrero, to explore opportunities for collaboration with CSIRO, the University of Queensland, and other organisations in the area of data integration, modelling and foresight. He is working with a number of large projects in Africa, which are gathering and integrating genetic, production, environmental and socio-economic data linked to dairy or poultry systems. He will outline the International Livestock Research Institute strategy and activities in this broad area and discuss a number of data-related challenges and opportunities. This will not be a hard-core genetics/genomics presentation, rather a discussion around some of the challenges associated with maximising the use of this type of data, integrating it with other data types and ensuring that it is available to collaborators in a useful format.
