Talk Abstract: At most synapses the membrane components of vesicles are being retrieved by endocytosis shortly after their fusion with the plasma membrane. While the mechanisms underlying the calcium-dependence of exocytosis are very well studied, little is known about the calcium-requirements of endocytosis. We investigated the contribution of Flower, a protein implicated in the endocytosis of synaptic vesicles at the neuromuscular junction of drosophila, in primary cytotoxic T lymphocytes from mouse. We find that endocytosis is entirely blocked at an early stage in Flower-deficient CTLs, but can be rescued by a raise in the extracellular calcium level.
